Don't know if it's relavent but I feed an external DAC with bitrate LEDs
from a USB to SPDIF converter (Odroid not Rasp) and the bitrate was
always locked to 48k no matter the bitrate of the original music file.
After a few enquiries on this forum I got a reply, from bpa if I
remember correctly, that I should use a soundcard option beginning 'hw'.
I chose the option without software conversion and it sorted out the
problem - DAC LEDs now follow bitrate perfectly. Don't know if it's
useful in this case but I thought I'd mention it.
