Didn't realise it was Debian - yes as far as I know the package should
do everything for you (build-perl-modules.pl is really provided for
people with other distributions to roll their own installation).

>From my reading of the Debian package it has a dependency on
libtext-unidecode-perl, which installs the Unidecode package your
system is using (you can tell that from the path to the Unidecode.pm
file shown in the error message). I'm not sure any of those packages
you installed would have changed that, but I'm no expert in Debian so
could be wrong. On my Gentoo system I use the version of that package
that comes with SlimServer itself (I think the Debian package doesn't
use those, however).

I wonder whether you changed the version on your system since
installing SlimServer and that broke?

Anyway - I don't think there's a general problem here, but if anyone
else sees it then shout as it may indicate a packaging problem for
Debian.
