Can't help with regard to Vortexbox, sorry. I use this version of Squeezelite http://www.gerrelt.nl/RaspberryPi/wordpress/tutorial-installing-squeezelite-player-on-raspbian/ with LMS. I have it now on a rpi3b but have, previously used a 2b and 2b+.
