That's a known and annoyng 'feature' in sox code... When converting a stream the system could not properly set the length in the wav header, so it guess a max value. Many tools (SOX and libsoxr included) uses a value that correspond to 20min of 44100 Hz/16 bit /2 channel, after that limit the simply stops. We faced thi problem during the development of C-3PO plugin and squeezelite-R2, we asket to the SOX mantainer to solve it but with no chance, then we added the solution in the mansr version (the one DSD capable). Now you could replace SOX with a modified one (https://audiodigitale.eu/repo/sox/) and use a modified version of squeezelite (https://github.com/marcoc1712/squeezelite-R2/releases) to solve this problem.
