When you telnet on port 9090 you should be able to type artist ?
and it should echo back the player's MAC address AND the artist. SO when I do it I get artist ? 0053A04blahblahblahblah artist Queen You shouldn't get disconnected until you type exit Obviously you have to be playing something at the time, and if you have multiple players (including softsqueeze) then you need to specify the player's MAC address in your query.
