I did a bit of reading and I think the chomp isn't really cross-platform, so I'll modify the regexp to catch the line ending regardless.
So, my guess is that the next problem is that's not the right date format to use in Applescript. (because when I get the dates *out* of iTunes they are in a weird format too) Can you run that applescript on it's own and see what the response is, or find any applescript examples that set dates (in iTunes or elsewhere)?
