At a guess the 2017 will work as end of line and "/" are boundaries (I
think "words" are a sequence of letters and/or numbers) 

Pattern would to be a Perl regular expression pattern usually DD/MM/YYYY
is matched by (\d+)/(\d+)/(d+) (actually 1 or more digits separated by
"/") and not a simple wilcard with "*"
