Wow. Deleting the cache worked. Immediate auto rescan on startup and and MM icon next to everything (so that's what it looks like). And it plays the mix too.
Thanks very much for all your help! Why doesn't a full rescan sort this out. If it can't then a new "absolute rescan" should be added to the list of scan options. From other posts it seems deleting the cache is the answer to many problems with corrupt or non functioning libraries.
