Maybe it only happens when the albums added to the playlist are in your Spotify library. I just tried playing an album from a search result and then adding another album to the playlist and the cover art behaved. If the first album played is from my library though the cover art disappears. So try this
1. Starting from a clear playlist add an album from your Spotify library. 2. Add another album from your library to the playlist. 3.
