If you have lame installed then it is probably MP3. I think the only way to be sure would be to looks at the debugging output with d_source enabled.
To be sure, you could uncheck the RTSP->WAV and RTSP->FLAC in Server Setting/Filetypes. This should only leave RTSP->MP3.
