this is not a major issue - just a nicety that I'd like to implement sometime.
Just make sure you don't implement it as part of your plugin, but submit a pull request for the Groups plugin. I'm sure Philippe would be happy to include it in the plugin.
I'm not sure it's due to a technical limitation of the settings infrastructure, but rather a limitation of UX know-how...
