This is going a bit off topic but ... I have a SB3 in my living room connected to a receiver. I operate it with the screen off (to try to preserve the device) so this is esentially the same as your set up. I also have an O2 Joggler flashed with the SqueezeOS which acts as a Touchscreen and Now Playing display for said SB3. - it can operate either synced with the SB3 or as a Controller for the SB3. When synced the Visualiser (hacked with the Kollosos version) works. You can only operate the Visualiser on an actual player so as a Control point there is no visualiser. The O2 Joggler has an audio cable attached to the Receiver on an input that I never use (this is to stop the sound from its onboard speaker). SqueezeOS & Jivelite are pretty much the same interface.
