Can you explain how the "Not" works?

I mistakenly thought if "Not" is selected, it would be given a
different value (instead of just 0 or 1).

I see the Advanced Playlist and it seems like it may be my ticket to
creating Moods. However, I notice it also has "include", "exclude",
and so on. Does it work differently from custom skip in that I can
"Include Genre: Classic Rock", but "Exclude Artist: Led Zepplin" (or
one song from Led Zepplin)?

On Advanced Playlist, Do I have to include values for EVERY field (i.e.
Groups, not sure what to put here, Min Track Length, Max Track Length,
etc.)?

I'm not at all familiar with SQL, but all this talk makes me want to
learn how to write these playlists. I think it should not be too hard
to learn, but I know it is a beast. Any pointers on where to start
learning would be great. Also, can I see what one of these more
advanced SQL playlists looks like so I can dissect it?
Thanks,
Todd
