Well, there *IS* something fishy here...

I have downloaded the ISO twice - just "to be sure" - and it passes the
md5sum check without problems. So the download seems to be 100%
correctly done.

I mount the downloaded ISO and check the tgz archives with WinRAR, they
check out alright. So the original ISO seems correct.

I burn the ISO file with Nero, verify option on. Nero reports the
burned CD's (I tried burning on two different machines, with two
different CD-RW disks 650 & 700MB and one 700MB CD-R) to be identical
to the ISO file.

None of the CD's can boot. If I check the \boot\isolinux\minirt24.gz
with WinRAR it fails the test on every disk. When it comes to 91% it
reports "Unexpected End of Archive", and then "Failed CRC check".

When an ISO file works, but not when burned, it's normally the CD/DVD
burner or the disk. But I tried with two burners and three different
disks. So that *seems* to be ruled out.

The second, less common, possibility is a faulty ISO file that "points
outside the disk". You can't detect that if mounting the ISO, but it
would give this "End-of-archive" error. *But* - I don't think Nero
would report the verification OK. And so many have downloaded the ISO
with just one having similar problems - which seemed to have solved
themselves. So that seems also to be ruled out.

What gives? :o
