I would be surprised also. By experimentation it appears that Spotty does not increase the count but the same track played via Spotify increases the count immediately and the fact it is being played is shown. It may be that there is a lag in the stats updating but that does not seem logical and also impossible to tell. I guess the only down-side of using Spotty in this regard is that the artist misses out on his fraction of a cent!
