Thanks for the tip. I renamed the Zlib.pm file and Spotty installed! 

I'm now running LMS 7.9.2 and Spotty is "sort of" working...  that's
progress. I think if I can get all this working properly I will write up
everything I've done to help others on the same platform. 

Authorisation went ok but every time I go an select something on
Spotty's menu each operation takes at least -30 seconds- to do anything
- or doesn't do anything at all sometimes.

I feel I'm getting there now as I *have had* Spotty playing something. 

Search yields NO results at all. It doesn't do anything. Albums are
empty (but that could be because I can't search for something and then
put it in there). 

I have these type of errors in the server log:

To stop this warning you might need to set SSL_verifycn_name to
the name of the host you expect in the certificate.
