Out of curiosity: Is "no outcome" due to some specific difficulty that

A bit of both: lack of time I haven't really looked into how to overcome
the one big issue. The latter being how to represent results for local
and remote search in a uniform way. Quickly.
My "dream" implementation would still be getting rid of the separation
all together, integrating libraries from online services into the "My
Music" section...

No, you can't disable the search history. The best you could try would
be to modify the MAX_RECENT value to 0 in OPML.pm. But you'd have to
modify that file after every update.
Also, is there any way to view the individual tracks of an album in list
mode as in the standard library?
Not at this point. It's either images or not, for all menus.
