I've seen this occasionally too. The issue, I think, is that when asking for a list of items, Material asks for up to 25k of items. CustomBrowse does not like this, and if you look at your LMS log you will see it throws errors due to the way it is querying LMS's DB. To be honest, Material is doing nothing wrong here - the API spec allows asking for this large a number of items.
