Right. So it looks like I have this working, at least part way. I can log in to a server running under WinXP SP2 using Softsqueeze running on a Mac (OSX 10.4.x). Both are running the most current server and client software. However, I am unable to log into the Linux machine. The error message says that it cannot use the version of the server software (6.3.1-I am using an older version because it takes fewer resources on this particular machine). I have not yet found a work-around.
I am not entirely sure what changed, but I think it was essential to use the actual IP address rather than the name of the server that appeared on the pop-up list in the SoftSqueeze prefs menu.
