marketing and eye-candy - "radio" is consider old fashioned and out of
date. All references to "radio" has to removed and the Sounds app
remembers a user preferences, Favorites, what been played etc.   It is
the "modern" way to make schedules irrelevant and let user to listen to
what they want when they want.  The iPlayer could do all of this but BBC
make a mistake by having two apps and two sets of developers - clearly a
waste of money.  I don;t use Sounds but I suspect "user registration"
becomes harder to avoid and so BBC may gain additional revenue and
perhaps control costs (e.g. fees to artists).
