Yes all are connected to the LMS. I had two accounts, one the main
Spotify account and one my son. I wanted te remove me (the main account
) but than both account are deleted. I than re-installed my (the main
account) account and now it works again. Am I to assume that Spotify
connect only works with one account active? and is it correct that if

No, but once a player has been used by user A, it might disappear from user B's Spotify. Unless local discovery is working correctly.

you have Spotify Family that account must be the main account?

I think they're all considered equal. Just accounts, no special roles.
