But would that pCP player work? Why would you have the auth daemon at
the same time? You don't need it when Spotty is already configured

followed the general installation and configuration instructions
It has nothing to do with Linux.
Are you trying to add another user in Settings/Advanced/Spotty when
there already is one?
Can you play Spotty content from the LMS user interface?
