What would happen if I'd just download it and then copied it to where it is now (/Cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins/MaterialSkin)? Would I confuse LMS' auto update?
Don't muck this folder. If you want to do development, or test something out, I'd strongly suggest you uninstall the managed version, and copy the plugin to the Plugins folder (check Settings/Information for where this is on your system).
