Frugal - seemed a lot less hassle. The DSM is seriously neat. It's actually an eBox-3850. You can buy them for about $250. Add a pen drive and you're ready. I paid extra for mine 'cos I bought it through DSL - seemed an appropriate way of saying thank-you. I tried doing a toram install but the system went into molasses mode even before I scanned my music and even after I commented out SoftSqueeze. I then tried doing a tohd install onto a second pen drive with the intention of eventually doing it to a compact flash drive inside the machine. It worked fine but I realised it didn't really gain me much (anything?), so I ended up doing neither. Currently my boot command looks like: APPEND ramdisk_size=100000 init=/etc/init 2 lang=us apm=power-off vga=791 initrd=minirt24.gz nomce noapic nosound quiet frugal restore=sda2 mydsl= ssh BOOT_IMAGE=knoppix > > But imho that's the way to go. So I think I'll go with your suggestion and just do the whole of /etc. Many thanks for all your work on SlimCD.
