The app is a simple web-view wrapper. Benefits:
  
-  Is an app with its own icon
-  You don't see the Chrome warning about insecure site when entering
  text - Chrome warns because LMS is accessed via HTTP, not HTTPS
-  Hardware volume buttons
-  Shows above lockscreen - if its the active app when screen locked
-  Can keep screen on
-  Auto-discover LMS servers

Download the APK, go to your phone's 'Downloads' app and tap on the APK.
Android should prompt about installing. I have submitted the app to
f-droid, but have heard nothing back in over a month...
