Once you get to the mplayer installation part of the alienBBC installation for mac instructions, download the file that you are pointed to. It is a compressed file, if you double click it it should uncompress (stufitt expander works if it doesn't uncompress on your mac). In the decompressed folder are two files, one is called mplayer.
Do a google search on how to view hidden files in OSX (you will need to type a command into terminal, which is in your utilities folder). Find the folder described in the installation instructions (user/local/bin?) which should also have the previously installed "lame". Add mplayer to that folder. Make your invisible files invisible again and restart the mac.
