The times I see an mp3, I think the behavior is as follows:
1- Click on play an entire album.
2- Playback starts. For a few seconds I see a FLAC label, but then it
changes to 320 mp3 for the rest of the song.
3- From the second song on, I see only FLAC.
Meaning that I get an mp3 only on the first song of a playlist or album.
The rest plays fine as FLAC.
It's only the display which is wrong. And I haven't figured out why yet.
The stream would be flac anyway. If you brought up the track information
it would show flac (and I verified the actual stream, too). Cosmetics.
We'll get there :-).
That said this all is a bit hit and miss, because there's no
documentation available, despite the link Rudi posted. They don't
explain how to get the FLAC stream, or when FLAC would be available.
It's all a bit of guess work right now. Eg. there's a "filesize" element
- and sometimes "filesize_flac". But no word whether this would only be
there if you had a HiFi subscription. But I'm using it to decide to
offer FLAC or not. We'll see whether this is a valid assumption or not.
