No - you were right!  I edited my post to make it clearer - Sorry.

I'd no idea there were additional server side settings for genre.  I'll
take a look.  For band, wouldn't it be up to me to decided what I set to
include band?  If the line gets too long that's my problem isn't it?

The other query I have about this method is that I often have 2 genres -
classical, and a sub-genre (eg Symphony).  This is a technique used for
the Multi Library plugin to have separate menus for Classical and other
types of music.  All my classical music has Classical, but not all items
show with a Composer in the track details.

In my case, if there's a Composer, I want to see it (or them). If not, I
don't, and the same for Conductor(s) and Band (s).  I sometimes have
pieces where I don't know the composer, or conductor, or band, so they
are not filled in.  I'm not sure what the benefit of the lists is.  If I
have to create a list of genres other than classical for composer it'll
take me quite a while (I have many dozens of classical genres), and if I
add a new genre (not that rare) I'll have to tweak the lists.
