I think this could be the "//" operator. IIRC  It was not valid in Perl
5.8 but valid in 5.10 onward.

What has happened in the past is that LMS code has been changed to avoid
use of "//".  I think there is an issue about upgrading LMS on Joggler.
I don't know if the Perl update needed to keep using "//" is available.
