Great - thanks, I see that was in previous responses. In the meantime, I
changed the preference from Direct to Batch and it works fine. I'll play
with the connection suggestions this weekend.

I also use a LOT of smart playlists in iTunes based on play count and
play time to populate my iPod, so there's a chance that it might just
be slow...
