I can do "hover over tray icon - see track/artist". (easy) Not activating the main window when you right click on tray icon will be harder because the tray icon is owned by the app, so when it is touched the app is activated and Windows automatically brings the main window to the foreground. This is just MS Windows behavior. To avoid it, I would need to create a separate application that is the tray icon, then interface between the two. Not impossible, but much more work. Perhaps I'll start looking at doing that, as I agree with you, I don't prefer that behavior either.
