Ok tx, I *think* I see the issue now. My soundcard's default format (Windows setting) had somehow been changed to a sample rate of 48KHz so it couldn't be used, even though exclusive mode is disabled, and ISTR you saying that squeezelite doesn't return errors, so I'll just have to try to remember that!
