I'm having trouble getting Alien BBC to work with my slimserver which is running on Debian Stable. Alien installs and I can select a stream, but when I try to play it I there's no sound, the player is at stop and refuses to play. mplayer seems to play a stream ok on its own.
Gory Details ============= I can see all the alienBBC options just fine. However when I play one I get no sound and player is stopped. When I play a BBC stream with d_plugin set I get the following in the log file: Streaming: Launching mplayer -really-quiet -vc null -vo null -bandwidth 10000000 -cache 128 -af volume=0,resample=44100:0:1,channels=2 -ao pcm:nowaveheader:file=/dev/fd/3 rtsp://rmv8.bbc.net.uk/radio4/arts/afternoonplay_fri.ra MPlayer 1.0rc1-4.1.2-DFSG-free (C) 2000-2006 MPlayer Team CPU: Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU 2.80GHz (Family: 15, Model: 4, Stepping: 1) CPUflags: MMX: 1 MMX2: 1 3DNow: 0 3DNow2: 0 SSE: 1 SSE2: 1 Compiled with runtime CPU detection. mplayer: could not connect to socket mplayer: No such file or directory If I play the same stream with the mplayer command line I get: ///////////////////// Mplayer output ////////////////////////////////////////////////////// $ mplayer rtsp://rmv8.bbc.net.uk/radio4/arts/afternoonplay_fri.ra MPlayer 1.0rc1-4.1.2-DFSG-free (C) 2000-2006 MPlayer Team CPU: Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU 2.80GHz (Family: 15, Model: 4, Stepping: 1) CPUflags: MMX: 1 MMX2: 1 3DNow: 0 3DNow2: 0 SSE: 1 SSE2: 1 Compiled with runtime CPU detection. mplayer: could not connect to socket mplayer: No such file or directory Failed to open LIRC support.
