An even bigger sledgehammer would be to have multiple plugins, "BBC Sounds Account 1", "BBC Sounds Account 2" etc. I can't think that more than 6 would be required. If you did that, would each plugin be able to maintain its own context? Although it is a sledgehammer, I wouldn't expect it would add hugely to your maintenance burden, as each plugin would be a duplicate.
