You mentioned a bug in the refresh logic. Is the bug in the "if (musicbrainz)" logic of the refresh tracks or somewhere else in your mind? I do like the concept of using the musicbrainz_id to keep stats linked to the track if the files are moved around, but I can understand the issue if the id is not unique.
