I just tried Softsqueeze for the first time actually (version 3.4 from
the Sourceforge files section), and it was with Java 6 on Ubuntu. It
worked, but not very happily... after a while of playing it would give
some errors...

org.titmuss.softsqueeze.audio.AudioException: Cannot read http
headers at
org.titmuss.softsqueeze.audio.Player.connect(Player.java:374)
...
35025 [SlimTCP-1] WARN softsqueeze - Lost contact with Slim Server

That's with Softsqueeze running on the same machine as Slimserver! At
that point all I could do was terminate Softsqueeze and start it
again.

So I downgraded java to Sun's version 1.5. It seems to be happier now,
doesn't lose communications anymore. But at the moment it seems to be
having problems with synchronization, which seemed to be fine with Java
6.

Have other people noticed Softsqueeze working better with some versions
of Java than others? Which is best?
