One point to make about constant flushing is that if you use the MIP client at the same time as playing tracks through SS then this will result in cache conflicts. There should only be 1 'writer' at a time. I don't know enough about MIP and API call queuing to say if a postponed flush could work? So that you could switch off flushing if you wanted to use the client and then after you've finished using the client you turn it back on? I'll see what I can find out.
