Hello.
I have this crazy idea to pimp an old boombox of mine ('Philips D8614'
(https://duckduckgo.com/?q=philips+d8614&atb=v268-1&iax=images&ia=images))
with a rspberry pi, pCP, jivelite and a waveshare 3.5" touch screen with
a resolution of 480x320. The screen somehow fits in the tape deck door
and my idea is to make it so that the tape deck still would be usefull.
I would like to add an additional "squeezebox" source and while playing
the "squeezebox" I would like to show a cassette playing with the
current title and artist shown. It should look something like this:

I have a couple of ideas but struggle to get the working in a proof of
concept. I hope somebody here can help me a bit further.
First I created a script that would check the playing status by CLI
commands. If a song is played an andless loop of a cassette would be
played and artist and title are written on top. I used ffmpeg for this.
However, the video would overlay jivelite which is not accessible
anymore then.
Second idea was to rebuild the Now playing screen. When playing the
background should show the cassette animation. when stopped the
animation should also stop. I am an absolute noob when it comes to Lua
and so I am wondering if this at all would be possible and if so where
to start.
I also did some research and found the Custom Clock Applet and Custom
Clock Helper Plugin a potential solution. There is also ancassette
screensaver available wich I tried. But I can't get it working on the
3.5" TFT. Also I would like to have my own cassette animation be
utilized (so above), but I can't figure out how to do that.
I would really appreciate if somebody could advise me on this a bit.
