There is a volume feedback loop so that when you change it on the player, it is reflected in LMS. Then of course when you set volume from LMS, the volume changes on the player and that triggers the feedback mechanisms (there are safeguards or avoid an echo loops). Unfortunately, some players have strange behavior and when instructed to set 40, they will set 41.5 (in your case) and the feedback loop will do its job and ´equalize both volume data.
