I think there are several conditions that will give that error, including cases where the plugin gets some information back from the web page but the format isn't what is expected. I suggest you turn some debugging on - go to server settings-debugging and select "d_plugin", then open up the log file (theres an almost-hidden link at the end of the block of text at the top of the page).
Then do whatever you do to trigger the plugin and see what appears in the logfile... post back here if its not obvious! NB - if you have many other plugins enabled, the log might be easier to read if you turn some or all of the other ones off, as they will all start chattering when you enable that debug flag!
