This patch worked for me too. However it seems to have lost it's magic powers and my BBC Podcasts directory is empty again. Does anyone have a new "magic patch" for me to try. I presume that the BBC keep changing their site and that is why the new AlienPodcastsParseMenu.pm worked for a period.
