ah - I managed to install the 6.2/6.3 version of AlienBBC.  Sorry - my
bad :(

that works now ;-)

OK - so the AlienBBC thing has also moved things on with the WMA.  As
well as the RTSP entries I now have 3 Windows Media entries which use
mplayer.sh (so no more wmadec etc.)  When I try to play WMAs the error
message has gone away, but the music sits there "stopped".

there's no bitrate limiting set, so that's ok.

all my WMAs are lossless but unprotected (and created from Windows - I
went for WMA as I have a windows-based bluetooth/media player kit in
the car (the Fiat "Blue&Me" thing)).

when I look at the logs with d_source selected I see

"Track failed before playback, marking as played".
