So, Hugh, I am still getting that weird problem on the Alison Krauss
track. Even the updated one. I'm continuing our discussion here rather
than email because I think it may be related to a possible problem with
the Gain function.

First, I need to understand how Gain auto adjustment works. When
Clipping is sensed, the info says that Inguz will reduce the gain by
.5dB at a time for as long as clipping is detected across, what was it,
.5 seconds? Or something like that. When it does this, does it then
automatically update the config file with the new Gain setting? If so
that doesn't seem to be working.

That track clips badly (indicated in the log file), which may explain
what I'm hearing, but it doesn't seem to reduce the gain as the track
continues to play. So I edited the config file to a lower Gain value. I
tried -18 and then -22 dB. I had three versions of that one track loaded
in the Playlist (different filename tags) so I could FF to a subsequent
instance to check the Gain adjustment.

First, when I FF to the next track, I expected the lower Gain setting
to result in a lower volume. That didn't seem to happen. Even at -22dB
the volume of the track seemed the same as -16dB, and it still clipped.
When I checked the log file it still seemed like it was playing it at
-16dB. I didn't see one instance of this track playing at anything
other than the default gain value. I even tried stopping and restarting
Slimserver. No luck.

Desparate at this point to get your insight.
