I don't know the details. You need to login on the nas using either telnet or ssh. Putty can do both ssh and telnet. If you're on MS Windows you can connect using telnet from the regular command promt (cmd.exe). Go for that if you can. Perhaps someone with specific nas-knowledge can provide more details. Perhaps the login procedure is described in the manual ? The commands should be issued from the Alien directory. Come to think of it. Are we sure this is the problem? You should be able to see the alien plugin in the server settings. Also if you check the slimserver log files there should be some 'permission denied' entries indicating that this is the problem.
