Current setup is kubuntu 7.10 rc (don't ask!), I have recently had Alien working on 7.04. Squeezecentre is now 7.0 up to date. Alien is the latest build for SC7.0. The screen menu appears, but the connection dto the server doesn't take place. see screenshot.
