Well that seemed to work, although I had to enter it several times into the Play URL field. Don't know why most of the time when I enter a URL there nothing seems to happen.
I think the problem arises because even though you enter the http URL, when you are in Now Playing and you Add to Favourites, it adds the mms URL to the favs list and not the asx url. The problem started by trying to play a favourites entry from softsqueeze.
