I tried setting -prefer-ipv4, but this didn't help, it just stopped the
AF_INET6 error message.

Also, you mentioned mplayer.sh. I'm accessing the mplayer executable
directly as per the directons on

One issue I do have (and have modified the mplayer-fifo script to
handle) is that I need to explicitly load the shared libraries from
/usr/lib). I have a trial version of zimbra installed which wants to
use it's own shared libraries. I don't think this is causing the
problem though.

I also made sure repeat is off.
