Fixed Installer had complained could noty access internet. entered my DSL modem IP address (192.168.1.1) and got around problem.
Logging at that log indicated slimserver was attempting to connect to that IP. I removed it from my network settings and hey presto - AlienBBC at last works! Cool software.
