I've been trying my hand at writing one of these...mostly by looking at and modifying Gadget webcam examples, but I haven't gotten very far. I've yet to be able to come up with code that consistently displays the correct artwork. Getting gadgets to ignore image caching seems to be acknowledged, amongst the folks who write these things, as being problematic.
Since I scraped vista off my laptop and went back to XP, I'm down to having only a single vista install, and I seem to boot into that only every three weeks or so.
