I have been having this problem off and on since installing the LastFM plugin a few weeks ago. Now .. the problem is permanently stuck in the ON state. Every time I try to tune to any of the "similar artists" that I have added, it always gives me "error sending update .." message and then tunes to "My Neighborhood" (and LastFM for some reason has put me in the wrong neighborhood because I HATE most of the tunes it plays!)
